Folklore Study Group
In 1965 young folklorists established the republican club "Irmisa" and on its basis in 1991 we opened the study room of the Folklore. In 2001 this cabinet was given the name of the great scientist and folklorist Vakhtang Kotetishvili. The main goal is to familiarize with verbal and written documents of Georgia, foreign countries and figures of other walks of life who wrote and created different stories. We also teach culture of written and narration art, how to set up the sentence and skills how to express opinions freely and fill the vocabulary, molding critical thinking and different verbal skills. Children are active participants of national and religious holidays as they themselves hold folklore evenings and other cognitive games. Young folklorists gather once in two years at Tbilisi Javakhishvili State University's folklore department. Its goals is to discover samples of verbal folklore of Georgia, deepen the knowledge of the young people interested in folklore and evince their skills by means and assistance of the archive preserved at the Study Room.
